I’m Virginia. I’m born in Argentina. I live now in London because my husband is a Londoner, London-Irish. We met in 1993 in India. We sent letters for three years and then, when we met again, they diagnosed me with HIV. He said nothing changed in our relationship, and that is why I’m here now.
I am very close to my family and when I said I was going to be part of this project, my sister said, “How can we be involved?” And I said, “Try to send me a picture.”
It’s what I say, to be bold. You think you will not recover, but you will always have a hope. I go to one charity and I teach gardening classes. I try to encourage people to reconnect with their food through learning how they can grow easily. I wanted to show the network I built up in London, being an immigrant, people in the clinic, or on the team, or the place where I volunteer. Beautiful things make me smile.
